Mr.Md.Rezaul Karim
Senior District & Sessions Judge
Hon'ble Senior District and Sessions Judge Md. Rezaul Karim was born into a respected Muslim family in Thakurgaon District, Bangladesh. He assumed office as the District and Sessions Judge of Jamalpur on 5 November 2025.
He joined the Bangladesh Judicial Service through the 24th Bangladesh Civil Service (Judicial) Cadre. His Service ID is 2006202022.
Mr. Karim demonstrated outstanding academic excellence throughout his educational career. He passed both the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations with First Division and Star Marks. He graduated from the University of Dhaka with an LL.B. (Honours) degree, securing First Position in the Second Class on the combined merit list. He subsequently obtained his LL.M. degree from the same university, attaining Third Position in the First Class. For his brilliant academic result he was awarded Justice Syed Mohammad Hossain Memorial Gold Medal by Dhaka University at its 42nd convocation.
In 2002, he successfully passed the Bangladesh Bar Council Advocateship Examination and became a member of the Dhaka Bar Association. From 2004 until his appointment to the judiciary, he practised as an Advocate of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
Prior to joining the Bangladesh Judicial Service, Mr. Karim served as a Lecturer in Law at several renowned institutions, including Dhaka International University, Northern University Bangladesh, Southeast University, and Dhaka City College. Before entering judicial service, he authored Constitutional Law of UK and USA, a widely acclaimed textbook that has long served as a valuable resource for law students.
Throughout his judicial career, Mr. Karim has participated in numerous professional training programmes both in Bangladesh and abroad. His international training includes programmes at the University of Sydney (Australia), the National Judicial Academy (India), and the Rajasthan State Judicial Academy (India).
During his distinguished judicial career, he has served with integrity and distinction in several important judicial positions, including Chief Judicial Magistrate of Mymensingh District, Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal (as District Judge) in Kishoreganj District, and Special Judge (District and Sessions Judge) in Dhaka and Rangpur Districts.
He is widely recognised for his commitment to the rule of law, judicial integrity, professional excellence, and the efficient administration of justice. He currently serves as the Senior District and Sessions Judge of Jamalpur, where he continues to uphold the principles of fairness, impartiality, and justice in the discharge of his judicial responsibilities
